In August, Baltimore Medical System (BMS) launched two new programs focused on improving health outcomes in pregnancy and early childhood.
Created by the Centering Healthcare Institute, CenteringPregnancy® brings together 8-10 pregnant women with similar due dates to receive prenatal care together in a comfortable group setting. Each group will receive 10 prenatal visits including private provider exams and group discussion, activities, and education. Participating mothers receive information and support with everything from nutrition, stress management, labor and delivery, breastfeeding, and infant care.
Many CenteringPregnancy® participants continue with CenteringParenting®, which addresses well-child care for the first two years, including health assessments, immunizations, and development screenings, as well as support for the mothers’ health.
During an event held at their Yard 56 location, BMS hosted tours of the facility and centering rooms, where the programming will take place. Coordinated by D&A’s public relations team, WBAL-TV got to experience a behind-the-scenes look at the center’s opening!
