Devaney & Associates Public AI Policy / Statement of Use

Effective: July 2026

At Devaney & Associates (D&A), artificial intelligence, including generative AI tools, supports the work our creative, content, media, public relations, and account teams do every day. This policy explains how we use AI responsibly, and how we keep human expertise, judgment, and accountability at the center of everything we deliver.

AI is useful for speeding up research, sharpening early drafts, and taking repetitive work off our plates. It is not a substitute for the strategic thinking and creative judgment our clients hire us for. Every commitment below is built around that distinction.

Your Preferences Come First

Not every client wants AI involved in their work the same way, and that choice is yours, not ours. At the start of every engagement, we discuss how AI may be used on your account and document your preference in our proposal or contract. That preference governs our work for the life of the relationship, and you can revisit it at any time by talking to your account team.

Whenever AI contributes to a deliverable, we disclose that use to you. Transparency isn’t a one-time conversation; it’s a standing commitment.

Confidentiality & Security

We never input your organization’s identifying information, confidential information, proprietary strategy, financial data, or account credentials into public or free-tier AI tools. Any AI use connected to client-identifying work happens on secure, paid platforms, so your ideas and information stay yours.

Human Oversight, Every Time

Every deliverable that AI touches is edited, reviewed, and approved by a member of our team before it reaches you or the public. Facts, statistics, and quotes surfaced by AI are independently verified against primary sources, and any content that had AI assistance in its draft form is put through a final originality verification check before it goes out the door.

Ethical Standards

We do not use AI to fabricate sources, quotes, or testimonials, to create deceptive or discriminatory content, or to misrepresent any person, organization, or fact. Our team is trained to recognize the common signs of unedited AI output, such as generic phrasing, repetitive structure, and overused transitions, so that what we publish sounds like us, not a machine.

Where AI Supports Our Work

Across our agency, AI plays a supporting role in:

  • Research & ideation: Gathering background information, exploring strategic angles, and brainstorming concepts
  • Drafting & editing: Building first-draft copy, repurposing existing materials into new formats, and refining grammar and structure
  • Production support: Streamlining routine image and design edits and generating accessibility features like alt text
  • Media & analytics: Supplementing performance benchmarks and surfacing trends in campaign data
  • Administrative efficiency: Summarizing meetings and organizing notes so our teams can focus on your business

In every case, a member of our team directs the work, evaluates the result, and takes responsibility for what we deliver.

Where We Draw the Line

We do not:

  • Enter client- or employee-identifiable information into public AI tools
  • Publish AI-generated facts, statistics, or quotes without independent verification
  • Send AI-generated content to clients or the public without human review and editing
  • Record client meetings using AI tools without your explicit, prior consent
  • Use AI in ways that mislead, discriminate, or compromise the integrity of our work

An Evolving Policy

AI tools, regulations, and best practices are changing quickly. Agency leadership reviews this policy every six months and updates it as needed, and our teams continue to train on new tools and standards as they apply to client work.
