Devaney & Associates in PR Category at the 35th Annual National Mature Media Awards

D&A won a bronze award at the 35th Annual National Mature Media Awards for our public relations work for Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL) that resulted in a published featured story in the Bucks County Herald. The D&A PR team developed and executed a targeted, four-step public relations plan to secure meaningful coverage for a PSL historic building transformation.

Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL) is a not-for-profit organization providing residential senior living and care services to more than 6,000 seniors in 27 locations across the mid-Atlantic region of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, and Delaware.

Recently, Pine Run Village, the PSL community in Doylestown, Pa., was preparing to reopen its beloved Craft Barn. The barn was more than just a historic building; it was a cornerstone of the community’s creative and social life. Years earlier, Pine Run Village residents began an initiative to renovate and revitalize the Craft Barn to transform it into a fresher and more functional space.

Residents played a large role in driving the fundraising campaign, and along with grants, donations, and investments from PSL, raised more than $1.14 million to complete Phase I of the renovation.  D&A’s goal was to secure positive media coverage that would not only celebrate this achievement but also resonate with the wider Doylestown community and promote continued fundraising efforts.

The D&A team developed and executed a targeted, four-step public relations plan to secure meaningful coverage for the Craft Barn project.

  1. Strategic Media Identification: The first step was to identify local media outlets with strong community ties and a readership that would appreciate the human-interest angle of the story.
  2. Compelling Pitch Development: D&A crafted a persuasive story pitch that went beyond the basic facts of the renovation.
  3. Securing Editorial Interest: The pitch successfully captured the attention of Jodi Arthur at the Bucks County Herald.
  4. Coordination and Facilitation: Upon securing interest, D&A seamlessly transitioned into a coordination role. By providing contact information, coordinating interviews, and diligently following up to ensure the story was moving forward, D&A ensured the reporter had everything she needed to craft a rich, multi-faceted story.

The strategic efforts culminated in a significant media success. On November 27, 2025, the Bucks County Herald published a feature story titled “It Takes A Village” in its “Prime Time” section.

The article captured the essence of the project perfectly, featuring colorful photos of the Craft Barn and quotes from both PSL representatives and engaged Pine Run Village residents. The placement was highly impactful, as the story was published in print and online, reaching the Herald’s extensive audience of 250,000 weekly readers.
