St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore (SVDP), the nonprofit dedicated to ensuring those impacted by poverty have the skills, resources, and opportunity to achieve their full potential, hosted its 20th annual Empty Bowls event this spring, with two events over one weekend that brought the community together around the shared mission to end hunger in Baltimore and beyond.
The weekend of events began on Friday, April 17, with Candlelight & Clay, where attendees enjoyed food tastings from local restaurants, musical entertainment from Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos, a live donation drive, and a silent auction. The Empty Bowls Family Festival took place on Saturday, April 18, featuring unlimited soup tastings from local restaurants, an artisan market, and family-friendly entertainment, including face painting, bounce houses, a DJ, dancing, and visits from beloved characters Mickey Mouse and Bluey, and the Oriole Bird.
SVDP partnered with Devaney & Associates to generate excitement for this year’s event through advertising, earned media placements, and community outreach, in addition to negotiating a media partnership with WBAL TV 11 News.
Overall, the work and efforts of SVDP and D&A paid off as approximately 700 attended the festival, raising $180,000 to support the organization’s hunger programs.
