Strokes of Creativity at D&A

“Creativity is intelligence having fun.”- Albert Einstein

As marketers, it’s our job to be creative every single day—whether it’s finding out-of-the-box ways to help you solve your marketing challenges, brainstorming new ways to get your brand noticed, or creating the actual collateral that will get all eyes on your organization. Fusing strategic thinking with imagination can take up a lot of energy, but it’s all in a day’s work when you love what you do, and at D&A, we believe heart plays an essential part in helping brands like yours win.

Fostering Creative Inspiration at D&A

This year, our creative department set out to find new ways to grow and protect our agency’s creative morale. From leading an all-agency exercise that put every department in the shoes of our designers and copywriters to conducting “sky’s the limit” brainstorming sessions for some of our current clients, these members of our team were focused on practicing creative freedom in the workplace so our agency’s work can continue to shine.

1. Creativity that Blossoms

In September, our creative team swapped their pens, pencils, and computers for paint and brushes to bring a department exercise that started on paper to life: A D&A Positivity Garden. Filled with vibrant flowers, hand-painted stones, and artfully decorated bird houses, the garden serves as a physical reminder of how good our creativity makes us feel, while reminding us that it’s always ok to take a break from your job and express your talents in a different way.

2. An Agency Crafty Hour

To keep the creativity flowing, the D&A social committee hosted an agency happy hour led by our art aficionado, Senior Art Director Kolleen Kilduff. Pairing crafting with good conversation, our team was able to bond while working on fall-themed signs to celebrate the upcoming season.

What Creative Thinking Can Do for You

Getting creative is good for the soul. It can help improve your mental health, stimulate different parts of your brain, and keep your fine motor skills sharp. When it comes to your brand, creativity helps you stand out from your competition and unlock your true potential.

Feeling a little low on creative inspiration? That’s ok, it happens to the best of us! In times where you feel like your idea tank is on empty, try going for a walk, journaling, painting, or pottery—anything that will get those creative juices flowing. If you’re still feeling stuck, we’re here to help! The best ideas often come from collaboration and having fun (two things our team is great at doing).
