Devaney & Associates Wins Top Prize and Four Gold Awards at 2021 MASHSMD Excellence Awards

Devaney & Associates won four first-place Gold awards – as well as the top Overall Gold – at the 2021 Mid-Atlantic Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (MASHSMD) Excellence Awards. Covering Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, the MASHSMD Marketing Excellence Awards celebrated the most outstanding work in the healthcare marketing and public relations industry from the past year during a virtual ceremony held on October 20, 2021.

The ceremony’s top prize was awarded to “Better Together,” an installation designed by Devaney & Associates for client Carroll Hospital. Created during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, “Better Together” transformed a wall in the Carroll Hospital lobby into an interactive experience celebrating the hospital’s frontline workers. Doctors, nurses, and staff were invited to add their contribution by coloring the wall’s life-sized illustrations or filling in the wall’s response circles with messages of gratitude and appreciation. The “Better Together” wall earned a first-place Gold award in the Strategy and Research, Exceptional In-house Campaign category, in addition to the 2021 Excellence Awards Overall Gold (All Categories).

Gold Award: collateral, Annual Report

Devaney & Associates was also recognized for Carroll Hospital’s 2020 Annual Report, entitled “Making a Masterpiece,” which earned Gold in the Collateral, Annual Report category. The publication expanded on the “Better Together” installation’s interactive strategy with custom-designed coloring pages that allowed donors to create their own masterpieces.

Gold Award: Collateral, Traditional Publications

Our agency also won Gold in the Collateral, Traditional Publications category for a case statement created for Baltimore Medical System, Maryland’s largest federally qualified health center. Titled “Heartstrings,” the publication introduced The Heartstrings Fund, a year-round community philanthropy program, and repositioned BMS as more than just a health clinic but a worthy cause that is changing lives in Baltimore.

Gold Award: Marketing Elements, Video Production

Finally, Devaney & Associates won Gold in the Marketing Elements, Video Production Category for a series of videos produced for Sinai Hospital. The videos were designed to recruit new candidates for Sinai’s renowned residency program, which faced a decline in numbers due to the pandemic. Devaney & Associates created a new brand positioning, a new recruiting microsite, and a series of testimonial videos so prospects could explore Sinai’s programs from the safety of their home.
