Devaney & Associates Earns National and Regional Acclaim in Three Healthcare Advertising Competitions

Projects for Carroll Hospital and Chase Brexton Health Care recognized by Healthcare Advertising, MASHSMD, and Aster Awards

We are proud to announce that we have received both regional and national recognition in three award competitions recognizing excellence in healthcare advertising and marketing: the 36th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards, the 2019 Mid-Atlantic Marketing Excellence Awards, and the 2019 Aster Awards. We were presented with awards in each program for work created in partnership with clients Carroll Hospital, a LifeBridge Health Center, and Chase Brexton Health Care.

“Health Esteem,” a campaign created to educate the local community about Care Connect, Carroll Hospital’s health care navigation program, received a Silver Award from the Healthcare Advertising Awards and a Silver Aster Award for scoring in the top 12% of all national entries. The campaign also took home first place at the 2019 Mid-Atlantic Marketing Excellence Awards, winning the Award of Excellence for Community Relations. Targeted to residents ages 35-75 years who are likely to be living with chronic illnesses, as well as primary care providers and other referral sources, the campaign used a strategically diverse mix of tactics, including email marketing, digital display advertising and retargeting, and radio endorsements. Results included a clickthrough rate 24 times higher than the industry benchmark, more than 4,600 page views to the campaign’s unique landing page, and a significant increase in calls to the Care Connect phone number.

U=U Maryland,” a custom website developed by Devaney & Associates for Chase Brexton Health Care and the Baltimore City Health Department, received a Merit Award from the Healthcare Advertising Awards and a Bronze Aster Award. The website’s mission was to educate the general public on a vital breakthrough in HIV and AIDS research: having an undetectable level of HIV means you cannot transmit it to others (or undetectable equals untransmittable). With extensive input from infectious disease experts, healthcare professionals, and HIV community activists, as well as beta testing feedback from a diverse group of Baltimore City residents, UEqualsUMaryland.org is easy to understand, socially inclusive, and a major communications step towards defeating HIV and AIDS in the community.

“I am so proud of my team for their creativity and passion, which brought these two campaigns to life,” says Diane Devaney, president of Devaney & Associates. “Seeing our work generate impactful results like this, and create positive change in our communities is why we keep doing what we do.”

The Healthcare Advertising Awards is the oldest, largest, and most widely respected competition in healthcare advertising. The awards are sponsored by Healthcare Marketing Report, the leading publication covering all aspects of healthcare marketing, advertising and strategic business development. More than 4,000 entries were received this year, and winners were chosen by a nationwide panel of judges.

Sponsored by Marketing Healthcare Today Magazine and Creative Images, Inc., the Aster Awards are dedicated to recognizing the most talented healthcare marketing professionals for outstanding excellence in advertising, marketing and communications. Winners were chosen by a diverse panel of industry experts.

The 2019 Mid-Atlantic Marketing Excellence Awards, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (MASHSMD), is a regional awards competition open to healthcare strategists, marketers, and communications professionals in Virginia, DC, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
