D&A Takes Home Two Trophies at PRSA Best in Maryland Awards

Devaney & Associates (D&A) was honored with a Best in Maryland award and an Award of Excellence at the Public Relations Society of America Maryland’s 61st annual awards ceremony on December 8, 2022. The event recognized excellence in communications with 28 award recipients in 21 categories.

Best in Maryland Award:

Dwyer Workforce Development Website

D&A won the top prize in the website category – the Best in Maryland Award—for its work on the Dwyer Workforce Development (DWD) website.

When DWD launched in 2021 to give underserved jobseekers free career training and job placement services in the senior healthcare industry, it had no marketing or communications to speak of. 

The development of the DWD website proved to be the crucial first step in bringing the nonprofit to life. D&A’s content planning process enabled DWD to refine its mission, the key pillars of its job training program, and how operations like student applications and donor gifts would work. 

The website also enabled DWD to begin its marketing and public relations efforts in earnest. To date, the nonprofit has received noteworthy coverage in the Greater Baltimore regional media as well as the senior care industry’s top trade publications, including McKnight’s Senior Living and Seniors Housing Business.

Award of Excellence:

Carroll Hospital “Stories Worth Sharing” Annual Report

D&A was the sole winner in the night’s annual report category, earning an Award of Excellence for the 2021 Carroll Hospital Annual Report. 

When the Carroll Hospital Foundation tasked D&A with creating a report that went beyond dry financials, we responded with a concept—Stories Worth Sharing—that wove together nearly a dozen stories of donors, volunteers, and staff members who best represented the Carroll Hospital community’s spirit of selfless generosity. The report even included a tear-away page for readers to write and submit their own Giving Story.

To give donors more ways to get involved after reading the report, D&A coupled the report with a custom landing page: MyCarrollStory.org. The landing page made it easy for readers to make a gift or submit their giving story online, participate in a fundraising event, connect with a gift planning professional, and much more.
